Ford is set to thrill its customers in 2018 with an upgraded version of their Expedition full-size SUV, and large families are going to love this. The 2018 Ford Expedition is new and hot!!! But the most amazing attribute it possesses is its lightweight irrespective of its enhanced size. This reduction in weight (about 300 pounds lighter) is made possible through the addition of a sleek new aluminum bodywork. The added 10-speed transmission and a re-organized interior that is buzzing with state of the art technology are few out of the expected feature in the 2018 Ford Expedition.
2018 Ford Expedition Exterior
As stated earlier, Ford has successfully reduced about 300 pounds of weight in the new Ford Expedition thanks the adoption of an aluminum body for the exterior. The modification of the exterior will also include the lowering of the roof by a few inches in order for the SUV to have a look that is unique to it alone. This reduction according to Ford, will not affect headspace or interior, so don’t worry about that at all. The expected length of the vehicle is an extended 206.0 inches, which gives enough space for the new designs the interior is expected to have. The new Ford Expedition may have some features in common with the F-150, the exterior design is one feature they do not share.
For the Expedition, Ford chose to go with a rather handsome looking crossover styled nose which is a hallmark of the Platinum trim which bears the LED full lights, daytime running lights and fog lights. The body is also well-trimmed and streamlined to complete the overall look that compliments the custom-sized length.
The Utility aspect of the Expedition SUV features two Tow hooks located at the front bumper and a 2-inch receiver hitch which is this time located at the back direct behind a block-out panel. The new Ford Expedition has all a hallmarks that will make it a real “hit” in 2018.
Let’s look at what to expect from the Interior.
The interior of this vehicle is so breath-taking that you may find yourself dying to be the one behind the wheel. The dashboard and steering wheel are a slight modification of previous models such as the F-150 and Super duty. Other than these, the new Expedition does get a redesigned 2nd and 3rd-row seats, Terrain controls(selectors) and a unique rotary gear knob.
Technology in the interior section of the new Expedition received a major boost. Hence, you can expect to find a modified version of Fords Sync 3 interface with Android auto and Apple Car Play. A total of 12-volt outlets for charging personal devices is located on all 3 rows of the vehicle’s interior, coupled with an 110-volt outlet and 6 functional USB outlets. Even better, Ford adopted the wireless charge pad feature in the interior design of the new Expedition which located in the front center.
Connectivity for up to 10 devices is available thanks to the improved Hotspot service which allows users to remotely unlock, lock, and start. Also, through this users will have unlimited access to vehicles diagnostics from any smartphone. Entertainment is upgraded with a dual headrest screen for passengers viewing pleasure and a robust 12-speaker audio system to back it up.
Greater luxury is expected, with features such as diamond-stitched leather seats edging and improve wood edgings that are too “die for”. The row will provide a unique tip and slide feature which grant passengers access to the 3rd row without having to remove the safety seats that have been put in place. On the 3rd row, the ability to recline is improved and the provision of adult sized-leg room is further enhanced thanks to the power-sliding nature of the 2nd-row seats.
The Interior design of the car holds much promise but see what the engines provide.
Engine and Performance
Ford engines are well known for their strength and tenacity, and the 2018 Ford Expedition is likely to be no different. However, it seems that Ford is going to employ the use of its proposed second-generation 3.5L Eco-Boost V-6. A twin turbocharger is expected and the all-aluminum engine should have the capacity to produce a 470 pound-feet torque and 375 horsepower. This should in no doubt put it miles ahead of it closest competitors. The new 10-speed transmission should very well provide better mileage.
The new Ford Expedition will also come with an improved rear-wheel drive and a 4WD drive auto which adds power to the front axle when the rear tires have problems with traction.
Price and Release date
No official price has been announced for the 2018 Ford Expedition yet but the price should not be far from that of 2017. Although price will increase to compliment for the added feature and technology the Expedition will carry. 2018 Expedition should cost $46, 225 but a current Expedition should cost way above the $70,000 mark. The new Ford Expedition will definitely make a mark in the auto-market and create a new trend when it is launched and released for sale in the coming fall.
