Less than a year from the previous ST model, 2018 Ford Fiesta ST will be presented at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show, from March 9th to 19th. This new-generation hatchback is more performance-oriented than previous models, offering customers more personalization options, along with three different driving styles and four appearances.
2018 Ford Fiesta ST Exterior
2018 Ford Fiesta ST comes with a sporty exterior package. Like the previous sports models, 2018 Fiesta ST is designed to maintain elegant appearance, with elements such as the new grille and swept-back headlamps. Onto the sides, new Ford Fiesta ST comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and dimensions of wheelbase are at 98.2 inches. These shall improve the hostile look of the car.
It comes with 3-doors and 5-doors design, which will be a driver’s choice after the official release of Ford Fiesta ST 2018 on the market. Customers in North America, the Fiesta ST with five doors will be able to order only as an option, the standard will be offered only as a three-door hatchback.
2018 Ford Fiesta ST Interior
The designers gave much attention on the insides of this car. The whole interior is redesigned to feel more sporty but comfortable. There are brand new Recaro sports seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, with a lot more personalization options than before. The 6.5-inch dashboard of the SUV is made from scratch and designed to be more functional and transparent for the driver. The A/V vents on the passenger side have been replaced by squared ones.
The central stack is accompanied by new Ford Sync 3, allowing the driver to control the audio, navigation and connected smartphones by using voice commands. The automobile also includes (optional) B&O Play Sound System, for a high-quality audio experience during the ride.
One of the greatest innovations in this Ford Fiesta is its brand new 1.5-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder engine. This modification makes it the first Ford model with a three-cylinder engine. Perhaps the most important feature is the 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, along with clever cylinder-deactivation technology that help to save fuel when you’re not pounding down country roads. However, Ford hasn’t announced the actual efficiency number of the new engine, but it is expected to crack the 50 mpg mark.
The active exhaust system should boost engine sound. The engine performance is much more powerful than with the previous model: 197 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque, without over boost function.
However, if the car will include over boost function, you can count on over 200 horsepower. The performance of the engine is anticipated at 0-to-62 mph (0-to-100 km/h) acceleration in 6.7 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the old model. However, the fun of driving the new 2018 Ford Fiesta ST doesn’t end there.
There will also be three driving modes designed to enable engine, steering and stability controls to be configured in three ways: Normal, Sport and Track setting. Along with six-speed manual transmission and top speed at 130 mph, the driver has the control over the final performance of the car.
Price and release date
Pricing will be announced at a later date, but it is expected to be at $22.000, which is the price of the previous model. However, the loaded model will be more expensive due to numerous customizing options available. The public debut of the car will be at the Geneva Motor Show, March 9th to 19th 2017, and should go on sale before 2018.
