Next in line is the latest model of the best-selling world manufacturer of mobile phones, we are talking about premium model Samsung Galaxy S9. “Imagine the amazing things we can build.” This is Samsung’s slogan and it is indisputable that this company that has been in existence for over 70 years, knows exactly what we imagine they can build. They continually impress with some of the most inspired and innovative devices to date.
Samsung offers a line of Android smartphones and tablets in their Samsung Galaxy S series that began production on the 4th June 2007. This Galaxy S line has seen a series of smartphones and tablets that have shaken Samsung fans and the technology world at large with technological advancements. Although Samsung’s Galaxy S8 hit shelves a few months ago, Samsung has announced the production of the Samsung Galaxy S9 for next year.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Release date
Rumors revolving the Samsung Galaxy S9 including reports of its production being in the process suggests that it is expected to launch a little earlier than its predecessor. Samsung has announced the Galaxy S8 in March and being released in April we can only speculate that this will be done or have been done come March and April 2018 respectively. Most probable launch time will be January 2018.
The Samsung S9 is expected to introduce new hardware, software and even general design, here are a few hinted specs:
> Size 144.1 x 68.1 x 8.0 mm: It has been suggested that this device will be curved on all four corners.
> 5.8-inch screen: Fingerprint scanning that is missing in the Galaxy S8 due to technical issues may be featured in the S9.
> water-resistant: Samsung Galaxy S9 might be better in water as Samsung late in 2016 licensed a new display coating that makes water bounce off the screen.
> Dual Pixel 12 MP (f/1.5-2.4, 26mm, 1/2.5″, 1.4 µm) rear camera: With an incredible new camera, it’s rumored to be able to shoot super slow motion, it will also be able to store images temporarily in its DRAM chip.
> Dual video call 8 MP front camera
> Facial recognition (3D sensors): This will offer a safer and more reliable recognition process for the user.
> No headphone jack: The device will not have a jack hence will come with, and use wireless headphones.
> Under screen fingerprint sensors: Samsung S9 might come with a notch at the bottom of the screen, this will be the fingerprint scanner to lock and unlock the device. Its reliability is uncertain and could appear at the back of the device.
> Android 8.0 Oreo: The Samsung Galaxy S9 will have the new Android 8.0 operating system which remains the best operating system thus far from GOOGLE. It is typical of the S series flagships to come with the latest Android operating system.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES EXPECTED
Galaxy S9 is expected to come with the recently unveiled Exynos 9810 Octa chip, this will be a first against its predecessors Exynos chip in the Galaxy S8. It will additionally have Qualcomm’s next flagship chip the Snapdragon 845.
Samsung through press releases also promises thinner camera modules in its premium phones and the Galaxy S9 makes the cut as premium.
It is expected that Samsung will use Face ID technology as is on the iPhone X.
This device will have magnets on the back, this will enable attaching hardware accessories such as a battery pack to the back of the phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 will be Samsung’s next big thing and with its biggest competitor Apple has released the iPhone X recently, Samsung Galaxy S9 has to live up to expectation and most importantly has to strive to be better than iPhone X if it hopes to continue to have command of the market. The price of the Samsung Galaxy S9 is not yet known, but it should be around $ 725 for the cheapest basic model.
Most specs remain rumored or unverified and we can only wait for Samsung’s official launch of the device, but it is quite clear what we are imagining Samsung can build.
